PEMBROKE – The UNCP women's soccer team will look to move their season record to 2-0 on Saturday when they battle fellow 2010 NCAA Tournament participant Pfeiffer in a non conference battle in at N.E. Lefko Field in Meisenheimer.

The Lady Braves (1-0) poured in 13 goals on Thursday evening en route to a 13-0 non conference victory over Barton in Wilson. The 13-0 victory set a new school record for margin of defeat, topping a Lady Braves' victory of 12-0 over North Carolina Wesleyan on September 16, 2003. The win also made eight-straight seasons that Lars Andersson's squad has started the season off with a victory.

Sophomore Frankie Berscak led the offense with a hat trick on the night, while senior Rebecca Womack, junior Andrea Collen, junior Brittany Padilla and freshman Amalia Arvidsson also added two goals apiece.

Juniors Fanny Forsman and Elke Groothuis each added a goal of their own on the night while the squad as a whole out-shot the Bulldogs by a 43-to-2 margin. 

Both goalkeepers played for UNCP in the commanding victory, with freshman Janae Aiken recording the only save for the Black and Gold during the contest.

Pfeiffer (0-1) dropped their season and home opener on Thursday night by a 1-0 score to Newberry. The Wolves' Mary Stanton scored on a long cross from Cassie Smith in the 83rd minute for the games only goal. 

Pfeiffer finished last season with a 13-6-2 record, including a 6-1-0 mark at N.E. Lefko Field. UNCP captured a 2-0 victory on September 22 in Pembroke and also a 3-0 victory in Savannah, Ga., in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season.

UNCP owns a 9-1-0 record against the Falcons in the all-time series, including five-straight victories dating back to 2007.
