AMERICUS, Ga. – Senior DeDe Cotten posted 16 points and 13 rebounds to register her first double-double of the season and help lead the UNCP women's basketball to its sixth Peach Belt Conference victory of the season on Sunday afternoon at Georgia Southwestern, 64-58.

Cotten notched 11 defensive rebounds and a team-high five assists in her 38 minutes of action, while junior Courtney Bolton collected a team-best 18 points. Senior Domonique Washington was unable to make her mark in scoring, but managed to grab 12 rebounds and two steals. UNCP (9-10, 6-5 PBC) shot 41.5 percent from the field - its third-best percentage of the season.

The Black and Gold slightly out-rebounded Georgia Southwestern (12-6, 4-5), but proved dominate in defensive rebounds with 34 overall. The UNCP defense held the Lady Hurricanes to a 31.3 percent shooting percentage with Terra Branch leading the team with 19 points.

The first 20 minutes of the game paced back-and-forth with 11 lead changes, but UNCP was able to take a single-point lead at the midpoint, 33-32, due to a 10-2 run with less than four minutes remaining in the half. Bolton pushed the momentum at the start of the second half for UNCP, but Georgia Southwestern returned the intensity and controlled the lead until the 8:25 mark when the Lady Braves pushed ahead and never allowed the Lady Hurricanes to regain the lead.

UNCP scored 28 points in the paint as well as 20 from the bench including eight from Amelia Partin and seven from Haley Magee. Georgia Southwestern managed to only commit nine turnovers compared to UNCP's 12, while also recording a perfect 100 percent clip from the charity stripe.

The Lady Braves will close out a four-game road trip against Francis Marion (6-12, 2-9) on Thursday in Florence, S.C., in the Smith University Center. The game is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. with the men's game starting approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
