Box Score INDANAPOLIS – Following a 3-2 upset over North Georgia, the UNCP women's soccer team opened the 2012 National Colligate Athletic Association (NCAA) Southeast Region Rankings in eighth, the association announced on Wednesday.
Armstrong Atlantic led the pack coming in first, followed by fellow Peach Belt Conference competitor, Columbus State. Lenoir-Rhyne, Wingate, Lander, North Georgia, Tusculum, Clayton State and Flagler completed the NCAA regional rankings, in that order.
Sophomore Amalia Arvidsson and freshman Rae-Shawna Campbell lead the Lady Braves in goals with eight and seven scores, respectively. Julia Nytorp has added five goals for the Black and Gold. Arvidsson is tied for second in the PBC in goals scored (8), third in points (21) and seventh in shots (53). Senior Andrea Collèn is tied for the top spot in the conference in assists, with seven this season.
In the net for the Lady Braves Britney Bennett has totaled just over 1,000 minutes, collecting 64 saves and earning four shutouts. Bennett ranks among the top ten in the PBC in all goalkeeper categories; including saves (64), save percentage (.810), goals against (15) and goals-against average (1.35).
UNCP will come home to Pembroke on Saturday to play host to PBC opponent Young Harris (6-7-0, 2-6-0 PBC) at Varsity Grounds at 12:30 p.m. Admission to all 2012 home soccer matches is free.
