PEMBROKE – Home-standing UNCP matched a season-high with 17 hits and scored nine runs behind senior Brad Isom's first career complete game as the eighth-ranked Braves routed visiting Georgia Southwestern, 9-1, in the front end of a series-opening doubleheader on Saturday at Sammy Cox Field.

The triumph helped the Braves (9-1, 1-0 PBC) stretch their home winning streak out to 16 games, while also giving the Black & Gold its first win in a league opener since 2006. It was the seventh-straight loss for Georgia Southwestern (1-7, 0-1) who has dropped all five contests away from home this season.

The Braves got 10 of their 17 hits from the 2-3-4 hitters in their lineup, including senior Aaron Parnell who homered and drove in four runs on a 4-for-5 outing, while also finishing just a double shy of hitting for the cycle (two singles, triple, home run). Brad Bridgeman plated a trio of runs and scored twice on a 3-for-4 hitting line, while Eitan Maoz booked a 3-for-5 plate performance. Drew Cole and Tyler Potter each booked 2-for-4 outings as well. Blane Parker scored the only run of the game for the Hurricanes, while also booking a 2-for-4 day at the plate.

Isom (3-0) logged 113 pitches in his complete game gem, striking out six and scattering five hits over his nine innings from the hill in grabbing the sixth win in his last seven appearances dating back to last season. Trent Franzago (0-2) saddled the loss for the Hurricanes after allowing seven earned runs on 13 hits in his seven innings of work.

Parker singled to lead off the game and later scored on a two-out error by the Braves to give the visitors the early lead, but UNCP stormed ahead in the bottom of the first on Parnell's 3-run homer to left field. The Black & Gold would tack up lone runs in four of the next five innings, before adding a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run single from Bridgeman.
