Box Score 2 PEMBROKE – Flagler held steady through six scoreless innings and used a double in seventh inning to post two runs to notch a 2-0 shutout victory over the UNCP softball team in the first game of the Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at LRA Field.
UNCP (14-20, 3-7 PBC) and Flagler (30-11, 7-4) each posted three hits as Brea Hartley, Ashley Harrell and Jamie Burwell totaled one hit apiece for the Lady Braves. Lauren Roudabush led the Saints with two hits, while Alona Personius registered one hit for two RBI.
Starr Gilley (5-11) pitched a complete game for the Black and Gold as she gave up three hits and two earned runs. Gilley tallied one walk and one strikeout, but used her field to help retired three batters in the five of the seven innings. Donna Munafo (15-1) went all seven innings for the Saints and gave up three hits, walked one and struck out six batters.
Hartley was walked and Harrell singled on a bunt in the first inning but were left on base. Gilley saw only three batters in the first and second innings before she gave up her first hit in the third inning to Roudabush.
Hartley and Harrell were left on base again in the third inning as they advanced to first on a single and hit by pitch, respectively. Gilley again retired three batters in the fourth and fifth before Burwell singled to right field.
Roudabush began the momentum in sixth with a single before Lauren Ely was walked to put runners on first and second. With two outs in the inning, Personius shot a double to left center field scoring two runs.
UNCP was unable to post another hit as six batters saw the final innings as Flagler closed the game out with a score of 2-0.
