SAVANNAH, Ga. – Fifth-ranked Armstrong Atlantic broke open a pitcher's duel with four runs in the bottom of the sixth and rode the strong left arm of Chandler Hall to a series-clinching 6-1 win over visiting and 25th-ranked UNCP on Saturday afternoon at Pirate Field.

The setback dropped the Braves (29-17, 14-14 PBC) a full-game back of Lander in the race for the fourth and final berth from the league's East Division into next month's PBC Tournament. The victory marked the 13th-straight win for league-leading Armstrong Atlantic (14-9, 19-8) who last tasted defeat on March 31 at Lander.

Seniors Josh Haley and Aaron Parnell both registered 2-for-4 outings to pace the UNCP offense which just got just one other hit in the game off the bat of Brad Bridgeman. Clayton Miller walked and drove in three runs to lead the Pirate offense, with R.J. Dennard and John Roberts both turning in 2-for-3 outings.

Senior right-hander Brad Isom (5-3) yielded three earned runs on four hits and a walk in five innings of work to take the loss for the Braves. Hall (7-2) worked his team-best fifth complete game of the season and tallied the victory for the hosts after striking out three and scattering five hits over the gem.

Armstrong Atlantic took the game's first lead on Clayton Miller's fielder's choice RBI with one out in the second but the Braves answered in the sixth on Aaron Parnell's RBI single to the gap in right field. The Pirates used a leadoff walk and an ensuing single to chase Isom from the hill in the bottom of the sixth, and then exploded for four runs off of reliever Thomas Allen to put the game out of hand.

The hosts would plate an insurance run on Miller's two-out RBI single in the seventh.

The Braves will look to salvage their series in Savannah on Sunday when they battle Armstrong in the series finale at Pirate Field. First pitch has been slated for 1 p.m.
