Box Score PEMBROKE – The UNCP women's soccer team will look to snap a two-game losing streak as it sets out to battle regional rival Barton, today in Wilson with kickoff scheduled for 5p.m.
The Lady Braves (3-2-1) are coming off of a 3-1 setback against conference competitor Clayton State on Saturday. Sophomore Amalia Arvidsson scored the Black and Gold's only goal of the match in the second half on an assist from newcomer Julia Nytorp. Arvidsson has scored four goals this season for the Lady Braves and currently leads the team in goals scored (4), game-winning goals (3), points (8) and shots (29).
Britney Bennett has played a total of 470:00 minutes between the pipes and has collected 21 saves. Bennett is currently ranked fourth in the Peach Belt Conference allowing only four goals. The junior keeper has picked up three shutouts through four games played.
UNCP is currently ranked eighth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) Southeast Region rankings.
Barton (2-4-0) is led by freshman Ashley Batchelor who has scored three goals for the Bulldogs. Taylor Parrish and Emily Futral have added two goals apiece for Barton. In the net, the Bulldogs are led by Carson Moore who has played 510:24 minutes picking up 55 saves and one shutout.
The Lady Braves will meet with the Bulldogs for the 13th time this evening in a series dominated by the Black and Gold. UNCP is 8-3-1 all time with Barton, including a 13-0 win last year. The Lady Braves currently own a six game win-streak over the Bulldogs.
