AIKEN, S.C. – The UNCP women's volleyball was overwhelmed by a strong USC Aiken offense as the Lady Braves fell in three straight sets, 25-14, 25-15 and 25-19 to the Pacers in a Peach Belt Conference match up Friday evening at the Convocation Center.
The Pacers (11-5, 2-0 PBC) picked up their seventh consecutive win as they outhit the Lady Braves (5-10, 0-2) collecting 48 kills with a .360 hitting percentage. Shay Peterson and Marissa Baker fueled the offense for the Black and Gold posting 10 kills and eight kills, respectively. Peterson had an impressive .500 hitting percentage. The Pacers were led on offense by Shannon Byers with 12 kills and Ashley Deidrich with three service aces.
On defense the Lady Braves were out-blocked 4-2, with Baker picking up the only solo block for UNCP. Baker and senior Ashlyn Rebok connected for a block assist. Rebok dished out a team-high 17 assists in the match. Alyssa Johnson came up big for USCA notching three solo blocks, while Samantha Lukralle garnered 23 digs for the Pacer defense.
The Lady Braves will be back in action tomorrow at 2 p.m. as they travel to Greenwood, S.C., to meet with conference opponent Lander (5-7, 1-0) at the Horne Arena.
