ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Nationally-ranked Flagler capitalized on a penalty kick in the 78th minute to control the 2-1 victory over the UNCP men's soccer team in Peach Belt Conference action on Saturday evening at Saints Field.

Junior Brett Luccia put UNCP (7-2-0, 2-2-0 PBC) ahead of No. 7 Flagler (7-1-1, 5-0-0) at the 17:49 mark after he shot from the middle of the box into the lower right corner on the assist by senior Sean Hoek and sophomore Sam Miles. The Black and Gold led for nearly 40 minutes on Luccia's third goal of the season.

The Saints tied up the match in the 57th minute as Adam Jackson scored on a free kick, and solidified the win on Jonny Cosgrove's goal which resulted from the foul by James Casserly.

The match proved to be physical as the Braves tallied 16 fouls, four yellow cards and two red cards on Sid Peterson and Casserly, compared to the Saints' 12 fouls and two yellow cards.

Flagler finished the game with 19 shots, as Zach Shanahan led the team with three, while seven players added two shots. UNCP tallied nine shots during the match with Miles posting a team-best three shots.

UNCP goalkeeper Ryan Hanson notched four saves in his 90 minutes between the posts despite allowing both goals. Camp Bissell registered two saves for the Saints as he spent the entire game in goal.

The Braves will continue with their road stint as the squad travels to Greenwood, S.C., for a 7 p.m. kickoff with Lander (7-1-0, 3-0-0) on Wednesday at Jeff May Complex.
