Lady Braves Drop First Game of Mount Olive Invitational

MOUNT OLIVE – The UNCP volleyball team was overwhelmed by Millersville in the first game of the Mount Olive Invitational on Friday at the Kornegay Arena.

Despite slamming down 35 total team kills, the Lady Braves (2-3) were shutout by the Marauders (2-3) in the three straight sets, 25-22, 25-19, and 25-17. Freshman Ashtin Truesdale recorded all three of the team's service aces as she garnered a .846 serving percentage.

In the second set UNCP threatened a comeback as they caused the Marauders to commit consecutive attack errors bringing the score to 14-10. Truesdale led the Lady Braves with nine kills and contributed 11 assists to the effort. Senior Ashlyn Rebok added a team-high 20 assists.

In her debut for the UNCP volleyball team senior Taylor Gallentine jammed up the Marauders at the net with four block assists. Rebok and freshman Heather Cisell collected 10 digs a piece.

Millersville was led by a powerful defense as they produced 10.5 team blocks. Emily Kaledas stopped the Black and Gold with two solo blocks and also slammed down five kills. Brooklyn Smith garnered a team high 14 digs for the Marauders.
