MOUNT OLIVE – The UNCP women's volleyball team used a .959 serving percentage to shutout St. Augustine in three straight sets, 25-19, 25-7, and 25-8 Saturday morning in the Mount Olive Invitational.

In the third game of the Mt. Olive Invitational the Lady Braves (3-4) relied on an explosive offensive performance slamming down 35 kills and 13 services aces. Five different players had perfect serving performances in the shutout victory over St. Augustine (0-6).

Despite a slow start in the first set the Black and Gold rallied on a 12-3 run led by Sawyer Gray. Gray racked up seven straight points for the Lady Braves, tallying four services aces along the way. Senior Taylor Gallentine added five kills in the first set for UNCP.

The powerful serving continued in the second set as Ashtin Truesdale served eight straight points putting UNCP up 9-3 over the Falcolns. Truesdale posted four aces in her opening run. Senior Shay Peterson then took over with a 10 point serving run which included two kills apiece from Ashlyn Rebok and Marissa Baker. The Black and Gold tallied an impressive .423 hitting percentage in the second set. 

The third set the Lady Braves shut the Falcons down with another Peterson serving run as she posted five consecutive points to end the game. Rebok dished out a team-high 26 assists throughout the match.

St Augustine's was led by Jamie Goff who led the team in kills, service aces, and digs, with five, three, and 17 respectively. Julieesa Thomas tallied 14 assists for the Falcons.
