Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Sophomore Julia Nytorp scored two goals, including the golden goal 30 seconds into overtime, to help the UNC Pembroke women's soccer team earn a 3-2 overtime victory over the Young Harris Mountain Lions on Saturday afternoon at the Wilson Soccer Field.
Nytorp's goal at the 90:30 mark to give UNCP (7-8-1, 4-4-1 PBC) the victory came on a rebound after Amber Watkins' shot, six seconds earlier, was deflected and saved by Young Harris (4-12-0, 1-8-0).
Early in the second half Savanna Stiles scored the second goal of the afternoon for the Black and Gold on a direct kick from 25 yards out. The score was Stiles' first goal of the season, giving UNCP a 2-1 lead over Young Harris in the 50th minute. The Mountain Lions tapped in the equalizer in the 71st minute of action as Rachel Hill connected with Whitney Thomas, who was able to beat a UNCP defender and find the back of the net.
Hill opened up the scoring in the 24th minute, after Liza Carpenter's pass found Hill who put the ball into the top left corner of the net. Nytorp evened the score at one goal a piece on an unassisted goal three minutes before the intermission.
"It was a very ugly game, we played poorly, coached poorly, and despite that we won. We'll take it and move on from here. We did everything we could to try and give the game away, but it's a conference win so we'll take it and move on," said UNCP head coach Lars Andersson.  "I'm proud of the girls for working hard and squeaking out a win. Glass half full, we came back and were able to win in overtime, and winning in overtime shows that you have some mental fortitude. We'll take it, learn from it and keep moving forward."
The Lady Braves outshot Young Harris, 24-13 (13-8, shots on goal). Amber Watkins took a team-best eight shots, including five shots on goal, while Nytorp added six shots and four on goal for the UNCP offense. Claire Tracy recorded 90:32 minutes of action and turned in career-best eight saves.
Sydney Baird led the way for the Mountain Lions with three shots, while Thomas, Hill and Erica Lowery each added two shots for Young Harris' losing effort. Between the posts for the Mountain Lions, Taylor Erickson completed 90:32 minutes and despite giving up three goals collected 12 saves.
