UNCPBraves.com sat down with sophomore guard Quamain Rose to get to know him a little bit better. Quamain was asked a variety of questions ranging from his favorite holiday to his best advice for youngsters. In his first year with the Braves, as a redshirt freshman, Rose was named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. The Whiteville native was the only player to start in all 32 games for UNCP last year, and also earned a spot on the PBC Presidential Honor Roll. He finished the 2012-13 season averaging 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Rose totaled a PBC-best 72 steals and ranked 26th nationally in steals per game. He shot 41.8 percent (140-for-335) from the field, including 29-for-99 (29.3 percent) success rate from the perimeter.

Rose currently leads the Black and Gold in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game. He played a major role in UNCP's 9-1 start that led to a No. 22 national ranking earlier this season. He has connected on 64-of-167 (38.3 percent) of his shots from the floor, and 25-of-83 (30.1 percent) buckets from behind the arc. An accounting major, Rose has grabbed 31 steals through the Braves' first 10 games, averaging 3.1 steals per contest. In November, Rose was named the PBC Player of the Week following colossal performances that helped UNCP to pick up two victories against Limestone and Belmont Abbey.

I don't really believe in superstitions.

When I did a front flip and landed over a defender to score a touchdown.

Thanksgiving Day, it's a time to be with family and remember all of the things we are thankful for.

If you won the lottery what is the first thing you would buy?

A huge shelter where the homeless and the needy people could go eat and stay at for free.

What is one thing you want to happen before you leave UNCP?

I want to be an All-American basketball player and PBC Player of the Year.

How do you want people at UNCP to remember you?

I want to be remembered by my hard work on the court as well as off the court.

What is your best advice to youngsters?

Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something. If you have something you want to do, a dream to chase, then go get it. Plain and simple. Hard work will get you far in life

Why did you come to UNCP?

Besides the basketball scholarship, it's a really good school, not too far from home, and the classes are not that big. I feel like I'm more than just a number here. I love it, and it's my home away from home.
