"I thought it was really good win for us, Limestone is a quality team. I thought we did a good job defensively, and our freshmen really gave us a big boost," said Haskins. "Katelyn Mitchell started us off making three threes offensively, then at the start of second half Jonissa Monley scored some points in the post for us, and late in the game Jasmine Huntley did some nice things. We played good as a team, overall it was a good team effort and a good team win."
Three 3-point baskets from Mitchell, and a layup from Wayne Mack helped the Lady Braves jump out to a 13-6 lead five minutes into the game. UNCP remained in control the rest of the way, taking a 10-point lead into the break.
Monley started things off for the Black and Gold, scoring seven-straight points, putting UNCP up by 12, 46-34, at the 15:17 mark. With six minutes remaining, the Saints threatened a comeback, going on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to four, 58-54, but the Lady Braves would score the next six points to regain their 10-point lead, 64-54. UNCP continued to roll through the final two minutes, leading by as much as 16 with 10 seconds left on the clock, 74-58. With two seconds before the final buzzer, Warren completed the three-point play, draining a free throw after a made layup, but the effort was too little too late, as the Lady Braves grabbed the 13-point victory, 74-61.
