Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – After excelling on the court and in the classroom, UNC Pembroke women's basketball forward Jazmine Kemp was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team for the second-straight year, the association announced on Thursday.
The College Sports Information Directors Association's (CoSIDA) District 3 is comprised of the Peach Belt Conference, Conference Carolinas and the South Atlantic Conference. The PBC swept the District 3 team, as Kemp was one of five PBC student-athletes named to the team. Young Harris had two players named to the team, while North Georgia and Georgia College and one selection apiece.
The team is released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
Kemp, a biology major, has earned a 3.7 grade point average. The Elizabethtown native leads the team in scoring with 11.8 points per game, while shooting 38.4 percent (76-of-198) from the field. The junior forward has dished out 62 assists, which ranks fifth in the league. Kemp has recorded 559 minutes this season for the Black and Gold, and averages a team-best 32.9 minutes per contest.
