MISENHEIMER – The 16th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team pounded out 19 hits and scored six or more runs in two different innings en route to a 16-5 rout of Pfeiffer on Tuesday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field.

The victory marked the seventh-straight triumph for UNCP (18-5), who also grabbed its seventh-straight win in the series with the Falcons. The setback snapped a six-game win for Pfeiffer (14-8) who had captured eight of its last 10 outings heading into Tuesday.

Jordan Edgerton (5-for-6) matched a career high with five hits on six trips to the plate to fuel a 19-hit attack for the Braves, while Ben Schmucker tagged his team-leading sixth home run of the season and drove in four runs to highlight a 3-for-5 hitting performance. Four other Braves recorded two hits apiece as well.

Dylan Goodman plated a pair of runs for Pfeiffer on a 2-for-4 outing.

Jordan DeLoatch (4-0) threw 100 pitches in staying perfect on the campaign. The Greenville native yielded eight hits and a trio of earned runs in seven innings of work, while also striking out six. Josh Branch (1-3) took the loss for the Falcons after allowing seven earned runs on eight hits and four walks in just 4-2/3 innings from the hill. He also struck out three.

Pfeiffer used consecutive knocks by Cody McKenzie and Dalton Lindley to grab a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth, but the Braves sent 11 batters to the plate in scratching the scoreboard for seven runs in the fifth. The Falcons cut their deficit back to four runs, 9-5, with two scores in the eighth, but the Black & Gold answered with six more of their own in the ninth to seal the outcome.

The Braves will open up a four-game home stand on Saturday when they welcome Peach Belt Conference foe Georgia Southwestern (4-16, 2-10 PBC) to Pembroke for a three-game set at Sammy Cox Field. The squads will open up the weekend with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and close out the series with a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Fans attending Saturday's game will be able to participate in Baseball Bingo, while Sunday's action will be commenced with kids running the bases.
