YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The 20th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team put together four multi-run frames to take an 11-2 lead into the sixth inning and then hit cruise control en route to finishing off a series-clinching doubleheader sweep of Young Harris with a 14-3 win over the Mountain Lions on Saturday evening.

The victory helped the Braves (16-5, 6-5 PBC) stretch their win streak out to four, while also keeping the Black & Gold perfect in its five-game-old series with Young Harris. The setback marked the seventh loss in the last nine outings for the Mountain Lions (9-12, 1-7).

Drew Cole drove in three runs and scored a career-best four runs on a 4-for-6 day at the plate, while Brett Huffman homered for the second time in four days to earmark a 4-for-6 hitting line as well. Five other Braves turned in multiple-hit outings, including Chad Whitehead who registered a 3-for-5 performance.

Zach Wall (2-for-4) singled twice and scored once to pace the hosts.

Garrett Hickman (4-1) struck out a pair of Mountain Lions and scattered six hits and two runs (one earned) over eight solid innings from the hill to register his fourth win of the campaign. Starter Justin Cooper (1-3) saddled the loss for Young Harris after yielding seven hits, four walks and six runs (three earned) in just three innings from the mound.

The Braves rallied for a trio of runs in the first, third and fifth innings, while also sandwiching in a 2-spot in the top of the fourth, to take an 11-2 advantage into the top of the sixth. Daniel Fraga's fielder's choice RBI in the eighth pushed the advantage out to 10 runs before Huffman and Ben Schmucker hit back-to-back homers with two outs in the ninth.

The Braves will look for their first PBC series sweep of the season when they take on the Mountain Lions on Sunday in the series finale at Zell B. Miller Field. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
