FLORENCE, S.C. – The 15th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team put up its 35th double-digit hit total of the season and right-hander Andy Sullivan pitched into the ninth inning to help the Braves take the series rubber game at Francis Marion with a 5-3 victory over the Patriots on Sunday afternoon at Sparrow Stadium.

The victory keyed UNCP (30-13, 15-9 PBC) to its 30th victory of the season – the 10th-straight season the Black & Gold has reached the 30-win plateau under head coach Paul O'Neil. Francis Marion (22-19, 8-15) has now lost four of the last six matchups in the series with their I-95 rivals.

Daniel Fraga doubled and scored twice on a 3-for-4 day at the plate to pace the Braves, while Drew Cole (2-for-3), Ben Schmucker (2-for-4) and Max Gagnon (2-for-4, 2 R) all turned in multi-hit outings as well. UNCP, which recorded a new program best for doubles in a season in the opener of the series, hit three more two-baggers on Sunday.

Luke Tollison doubled and homered for the fourth time this season on a 2-for-4 hitting line for the Patriots.

Sullivan (5-1) surrendered seven hits and a trio of earned runs over a season-long eight innings from the mound to pick up the win for the Braves. Jordan DeLoatch earned his second save of the season by working a scoreless ninth. Spencer Jordan (2-4) took the loss for FMU after allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks in 6-1/3 innings from the hill. He also struck out five.

UNCP used two hits and an untimely fielding error to tack up a pair of runs in the first, but Francis Marion knotted things back up in the bottom of the frame on consecutive RBI doubles from Michael Wilson and Tollison. The 2-2 tie would hold up for the next five innings before the Braves took the lead for good on a bases-loaded walk with one out in the seventh.

Jordan Edgerton (1-for-4, 4 RBI) provided a pair of insurance runs on a two-run single through the left side with no outs in the ninth. Tollison hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the ninth to provide the final.

The Braves will continue a seven-game road trip this weekend when they head to Savannah, Ga., for a Friday/Saturday series with league rival Armstrong Atlantic (22-14, 13-11) at Pirate Field. The squads will open up the weekend set with a 3 p.m. contest on Good Friday, and close out the weekend with a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
