AUGUSTA, Ga. – Zade Denton and Max Gagnon were part of an impeccable list of student-athletes on Friday afternoon as they represented the UNC Pembroke baseball team on the 2014 Peach Belt Conference Baseball All-Academic Team, the league office announced.
The announcement marked the sixth-straight year that the Braves have been represented in the release. Gagnon earned the accolade for the third-straight year, while Denton was decorated with the distinguished honor for the second-straight year.
The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.

The owner of 15 multiple-hit and 12 multiple-RBI games, Denton has produced a .387 on-base percentage and a .447 slugging percentage this season as well.
Gagnon, a sixth-year senior who graduated with his bachelor's degree in physical education last spring, has produced career-best offensive numbers across the board this season. The Raleigh product currently maintains a .340 (36-for-106) batting average as UNCP's primary catcher and has logged 12 extra-base hits (4 HR), 26 RBI and 23 runs scored.
