Women's Soccer Rolls Past Georgia Southwestern In PBC Opener

Box Score

AMERICUS, Ga. – The UNC Pembroke women's soccer team scored twice in the final 15 minutes of the first half to take a 3-0 advantage into the break, and then erupted for seven goals in the second half en route to a 10-1 rout of Georgia Southwestern on Saturday afternoon in the Peach Belt Conference opener for both sides.

The win kept the Braves (2-0-1, 1-0-0 PBC) unbeaten on the season and marked the most goals for the Black & Gold since a 12-0 win at Barton in the 2011 season opener. The Hurricanes (0-4-0, 0-1-0) stayed winless on the season, while also falling to 0-9-0 all-time against UNCP.

The Braves will return to action on Wednesday when they welcome region rival Catawba (3-0-0) to Varsity Grounds for a 5 p.m. tilt.
