Brandon Winford scored a team-best 22 points on 6-of-7 shooting and cemented his place in program history as the 32nd member of UNCP's 1,000-Point Club. Brandon Watts added 21 points, Quamain Rose chipped in 16 and Griffin Pittman scored 14. Keysheen Hinton came off the bench to tally 12 points.
Jonathan Blair scored a game-high 28 points off the bench for the Pirates who got double-figure scoring from three other players as well.
The Braves led by as many as 27 points, 86-59, after Winford drained a pair of free throws with just less than 12 minutes left to play, and hit the century mark for the second-straight game after a jumper by Ben Jacobs with 5:47 left made it 101-76.
UNCP led by just three points, 20-17, through the first 7-1/2 minutes of action, but outscored the hosts 21-6 over the next seven minutes to pull away for good. The Braves took a 21-point lead on a pair of free throws by Winford at the 2:40 mark and eventually took a 59-35 lead into the intermission.
The Braves will close out the regular season portion of their 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday when they suit up to battle I-95 rival Francis Marion (13-14, 5-13) in the second half of a 5:30 p.m. doubleheader inside the English E. Jones Center. The game will be preceded by Senior Night festivities as Pittman and Jacobs, as well as fellow seniors Rob Brown, Reggie Cobia, Cody Hughes and James McGhee, are set to be honored.
