PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke softball team got base hits from eight different players and rallied back from an early one-run deficit to upend Pfeiffer, 7-1, in day two action of the UNCP Invitational on Saturday at LRA Field.

Sisters Kaytee Wilson (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Karlee Wilson (2-for-2, R) registered two hits apiece to pace the UNCP (2-2) offense, while Brea Hartley walked, singled and scored twice on a 1-for-2 outing.

Emma Tuttle turned in a 2-for-4 night to pace the Falcons (4-4) who had rallied to topple previously-unbeaten Coker just two hours earlier.

Newcomer Katie Saunders (1-0) scattered seven hits and two earned runs across a complete game outing to grab the win for the Braves. She also struck out two. Sydney Poole (1-2) took the loss for the visitors after surrendering six runs (five earned) on eight hits and a pair of walks in 4-1/3 innings from the circle.

Tuttle's RBI single in the third helped the Falcons claim an early 1-0 advantage, but the Braves knotted the score back up on Kaytee Wilson's RBI groundout in the bottom of the frame before taking the lead for good on freshman Lexie Coxe's run-scoring single in the fourth.

The hosts crossed the plate four times in the fifth to all but seal the outcome.

The Braves will close out their portion of play in the UNCP Invitational with a 1 p.m. contest against Coker (3-1) on Sunday at LRA Field. Admission is free.
