HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Home-standing Coker plated four runs in the fifth to stake claim to a 5-3 advantage, but the 25th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team plated three in the sixth and five more in the seventh to blow past the Cobras, 13-8, on Wednesday afternoon at Tom J. New Field.

Drew Beaver doubled twice and drove in three runs on a 4-for-5 outing to pace the Braves (15-5), while Cody Adkins and Dalton Knight each tripled twice on 2-for-4 performances. Collins Cuthrell (1-for-4) hit his NCAA-best 13th home run of the season in the win as well.

Joe Diaz (3-for-4, 3 RBI) and Miguel Frias (3-for-5, 3 R) both registered 3-hit outings for Coker (6-12).

UNCP utilized the arms of six pitchers in the contest, with reliever Zach Andrews (3-0) picking up the win despite allowing four hits and one earned run in one inning from the hill. Starter Forrest Arnold (1-5) surrendered six runs (five earned) on seven hits in two innings of work to take the loss for Coker.

UNCP scratched the scoreboard first on Cole's RBI single in the third, and then stretched its lead out to 3-0 in the fourth on consecutive RBI knocks by Dalton Knight (triple) and Ben Schmucker (sac fly). Coker would answer in the bottom of the frame with a RBI triple by Sammy Song, and then sent eight batters to the plate in a four-run fifth inning.

The Braves plated a trio of runs in the sixth to drag a 6-5 lead into the last three innings, but plated five more runs in the seventh, including four on extra-base hits by Cuthrell (2-run homer) and Cody Adkins (2-run triple).

The Braves will open up a four-game home stand this weekend when they step back into Peach Belt Conference play to battle North Georgia (12-5, 8-1 PBC) in a weekend set at Sammy Cox Field. The squads will open up the series with 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday afternoon and close out the weekend with a 1 p.m. single game on Sunday.
