UNCPBraves.com sat down with senior first baseman Dalton Knight to know him a little bit better. Dalton was asked a variety of questions ranging from the most famous person he has ever met to how he wants people to remember him when he leaves UNCP. Dalton, a Morehead City native, was named to the NCBWA Preseason All-Region Squad and garnered the PBC Player of the Week recognition on Feb. 17 after he recorded a .667 (8-for-12) batting average in three games against nationally-ranked Columbus State. He added two extra-base hits (one home run), five RBI and seven runs scored, while striking out just one time in 12 at-bats in the series with the Cougars, while also drawing four walks en route to a .750 on-base percentage. He currently holds a .356 batting average, .436 on-base percentage and .525 slugging percentage with 36 hits, 28 runs, and 14 RBI.
Last season, he saw action in 47 games, including 46 starts all as designated hitter, while posting a .335 batting average in 188 at-bats with 35 runs scored on 63 hits, including 20 extra-base hits, including three home runs, and 50 RBI. He tallied 18 multiple-hit games and 12 multiple-RBI games, while hitting 6-for-13 (.462) in season-opening series at Anderson, including a 3-for-5, 5-RBI day in the finale.
