AMERICUS, Ga. – The UNC Pembroke baseball team sent 10 batters to the plate to spark a seven-run fourth inning and finish off a Peach Belt Conference series sweep at Georgia Southwestern with a 15-3 victory on Saturday evening at Hurricanes Stadium.

It was the second PBC series sweep of the season for the Braves (20-7, 9-6 PBC), who have now won five of their last six league outings as well. The Hurricanes (8-20, 2-16) fell to 4-16 all-time against UNCP.

Billy Vaughn drove in a pair of runs and scored twice on 3-for-3 showing for the Black & Gold who got at least one hit from nine different players in the outing. Zade Denton plated a pair of runs on a 3-for-6 plate performance for the visitors as well.

Will Redding tripled in a run and scored once on a 2-for-4 showing for the hosts.

Connor Pratt (3-1) pitching six strong innings for the Braves and was awarded the win after striking out six and scattering five hits and three earned runs. Dylan Brown (1-1) took the loss for the hosts after allowing seven runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks in 3-1/3 innings from the mound. He also struck out two.

After nothing doing in each of the first two innings, UNCP scratched the scoreboard for four runs in the third, and then put the game away in the decisive fourth inning. The Hurricanes cut into their big deficit with three scores of their own in the bottom of the fourth to trim the lead back to 11-3, but the Black & Gold added four insurance runs down the stretch to cap the scoring.

The Braves will make a brief appearance at home on Tuesday when they lace up to take on Coker (8-16) in a 6 p.m. contest at Sammy Cox Field.
