MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -
The visiting UNC Pembroke softball team fell in the second game of the twinbill with No. 8 Georgia College on Sunday after a combined 10 runs over two innings with three homers that allowed the Bobcats to sweep the series with an 11-5 win at Peeler Complex in Peach Belt Conference play.

UNCP (18-17, 2-12 PBC) fell in its fourth-consecutive contest, while Georgia College (34-4, 11-1) picked up its 13th-straight victory.

The Braves logged 10 total team hits with senior Karlee Wilson and junior Morgan Davis going 2-for-3 from the plate with freshman Jamie Johnson also notching a pair of hits. Wilson also finished the game with a team-best two RBI and two runs. The Bobcats were led by Danielle Bernstein with three hits and four others collected two hits to tally 11 with Kristen Brooks crossing home plate three times and Taylor Campbell recorded four RBI.

Senior Selena Ashley (8-5) suffered the loss in the middle after allowing seven earned runs on five hits in the first two innings, but was relieved by junior Katie Saunders for the final four innings as she gave up four earned runs on six hits, but managed four strikeouts. Carly Lewis (14-3) also struckout four batters in her complete game for the win, but allowed five earned runs on 10 hits with three walks.

Georgia College captured the first run of the game in the bottom of the first as three runs sent in the leadoff batter that was hit by a pitch, but UNCP saw all nine batters receive an at-bat in the second inning. Toni Nelson, Davis and Wilson scored the runs for the Black and Gold to give UNCP the 3-1 lead as the team notched four singles, a fielder's choice and a pair of walks to move ahead of the Bobcats.

However, Georgia College pulled ahead in the bottom of the second inning as Emily Robert send home two runs to tie the score on a double before Campbell's grand slam to carry a four-run lead. Two home runs in the third including a leadoff homer and three-run tater gave the Bobcats a 11-3 lead.

Wilson collected her second homerun of the series (one in the first game) in the fourth inning as she led off the inning, before Johnson reached on a single and scored on Taylor Gerhart's double to cut the lead to six-run game, but the Braves were unable to collect another run as Georgia College swept the series.

UNCP will continue with PBC action on Wednesday when the team plays host to Columbus State (19-17, 5-7) in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at LRA Field in Pembroke.
