FULL RESULTS
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The UNC Pembroke swimming and diving squad put six competitors in the water in a dual with Chowan Friday evening, but the host Hawks slipped by the Braves in Murfreesboro to conclude UNCP's 2016 slate.
Junior 
Gina Zhang and sophomore 
Kelsey Williams paced the Braves with a trio of runner-up finishes apiece. In the night's second event, the 800-freestyle, Zhang touched second in 10:33.67 to score the Braves' first points of the evening. She followed that up with another second-place finish in the 100-butterfly in a time of 1:12.95. In her final individual event, Zhang grabbed second in the 400-freestlye in 5:08.41.
Williams opened her night in the 200-freestyle, grabbing second in 2:36.18. The Gibsonville product was just over three seconds off the pace in the 50-freestyle, touching in 31.98 before rounding out her night in the 100-freestyle with another runner-up finish in 1:12.24.
In her first collegiate event, freshman 
Amanda Snider took second in the 50-backstroke, edging teammate 
Alexys Pagan by just .02 seconds with a time of 46.85. Snider finished fourth in her only other event, the 100-freestlye, while Pagan was fourth in the 50-freestyle.
Junior 
Sonyaliz Goveo snagged a trio of third-place finishes in the 50- and 100-breststroke and the 50-butterfly, while sophomore 
Taylor Lusk took third in the 50- and 100-freestyle events.
In the night's final event, the UNCP relay squad of Zhang, Lusk, Goveo and Williams took runner-up honors in the 200-freestyle relay.
The Braves will enjoy almost two months off before diving back into action in January to begin the 2017 portion of their schedule. The new year will see the Black & Gold compete in four meets in an 11-day span from Jan. 18-28.
