RALEIGH – NC State connected on 12 3-pointers and scored 40 points off of 25 turnovers by the UNC Pembroke women's basketball team to fuel the Wolfpack to a 96-41 victory over the Braves in an exhibition matchup at history Reynolds Coliseum on Friday evening.
 
The contest marked the only preseason exhibition matchup for the Braves, who will take a break from regular season action on November 22 to match up with UNC Greensboro in Fleming Gym. The triumph was the only exhibition action of the season for NC State who will open up its 2016-17 campaign on November 12 at home against Wofford.
 
LaShonda Prichard scored 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor to lead the Braves who played all 14 of its rostered players in the outing. Jennifer Mathurin keyed a game-best 16 points with 4-of-7 perimeter shooting, while Lucky Rudd came off the bench to add a dozen points for the hosts. The Wolfpack finished the night with a 52-32 edge in the rebounding column as well.
 
The Wolfpack led by 19 points, 27-8, at the end of the first quarter and took a 43-17 advantage into the intermission. The hosts outscored the Black & Gold by a 30-15 disparity in the third quarter.
 
The Braves will officially lift the lid on their 2016-17 campaign on November 14 when they make the short trip to Hartsville, S.C., to battle Coker inside the DeLoach Center. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
