PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke baseball team scored runs in each of the first six innings behind an eight-inning gem from newcomer Lane Johnson and the Braves clinched their weekend series with Shippensburg on a 13-0 blanking of the Raiders in the nightcap of a Saturday doubleheader on Saturday at Sammy Cox Field.

C.J. White clubbed a pair of homers and drove in four runs on a 2-for-4 night for the Braves (9-3), while Nick Debo doubled and plated a trio of scores to highlight a 3-for-4 hitting line. Alex Minton and Nick Salisbury both turned in 2-for-4 performances as well, while Roberto Rivera walked twice and scored four times on a 1-for-1 showing.

Cash Gladfelter registered a 2-for-3 night at the plate to lead the Raiders (3-6).

Johnson (1-1) struck out five and scattered seven hits over eight superb innings from the hill to pick up his first win in a Braves uniform. Gabe Mosser (0-1) took the loss for Shippensburg after being victimized for nine earned runs and eight hits in just 3-1/3 innings of work.

The Braves led 3-0 after Minton's solo homer in the bottom of the second, but tacked up three more runs in both the third and fourth innings to put the game well in hand. White led off the fifth with his second home run of the game, before the hosts capped the scoring with a 3-run sixth inning.

The squads will close out their weekend series with a single game on Sunday. First pitch is slated for noon at Sammy Cox Field.
