Sharp Shooting Lifts Women’s Basketball Past Georgia Southwestern

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The UNC Pembroke women's basketball team shot 59.6 percent from the field on the way to its best shooting performance in more than two decades as the Braves flew past Georgia Southwestern, 94-73, on Monday afternoon at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.

The result snapped a two-game home losing streak for the Braves (5-10, 4-5 PBC) whose 94 points is the most for the program since a 95-88 overtime victory against North Florida in the 2002-03 Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The setback snapped a four-game win streak for the Hurricanes (8-7, 5-4) who fell to 1-7 at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER

Georgia Southwestern scored 11 of the period's final 15 points to close the gap back to 22-21 at the end of the quarter.
2ND QUARTER

3RD QUARTER
Aliyah Farmer's running layup with 5-1/2 minutes left marked the start of a 12-2 run that allowed the hosts to grab a 62-48 advantage three minutes later. That surge would be enough to allow UNCP to stay out in front by double digits the rest of the way out.
