PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke women's basketball team scored 15 points off of 14 Fayetteville State turnovers and got 27 points from its bench to fuel a 63-60 victory over Fayetteville State on Wednesday evening at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.
It was the fifth-straight home win for the Braves (2-1) in the 34-game-old series with the Lady Broncos that dates back to the 1975-76 campaign. Fayetteville State (0-3) has now dropped all three outings this season by a combined 11 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED |
1ST QUARTER |
UNC Pembroke connected on its first three attempts from the field and forged an early 6-5 lead just three minutes into play. Fayetteville State suffered from a nearly four-minute cold-shooting drought that the hosts took advantage of and eventually took a 15-12 lead into the second stanza. |
2ND QUARTER |
Aliyah Farmer's free throw just more than three minutes in gave the Black & Gold an 18-16 advantage, but the Broncos took their third lead of the night, 20-18, off a Katisha Hyman jumper 61 seconds later. The Braves took the lead for good with 55 seconds left in the period, while also toting a 29-27 edge into the locker rooms. |
3RD QUARTER |
The Braves led by seven points, 36-29, after Jillian Ebron's trey at the 7:58 mark, and eventually pushed their lead out to as many as eight points, 41-33, following a fastbreak 3-pointer from Tee Graham with just less than three minutes left. Fayetteville State tacked up the final four points of the period to cut its deficit back to 41-37 heading to the final stanza. |
4TH QUARTER |
UNC Pembroke took their largest lead of the night, 56-45, off of two free throws from ShaNiya Lester with 5:44 on the clock, but the Broncos put together an 11-2 run to cut the deficit back to two points, 58-56, with 1:13 remaining. UNCP got a big 3-pointer from Tee Graham with 43 ticks left, and held on after a desperation 3-pointer from Chantel Williams sailed well wide of the net. |

+ Tee Graham turned in her first double-digit scoring night of the season with 11 points. She also added five boards, four assists and a pair of steals.
