PEMBROKE – Visiting Clayton State limited the UNC Pembroke women's basketball team to just three made field goals in a decisive second quarter and scored 19 points off of 22 turnovers by the Braves on the way to a 59-47 victory on Senior Day at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.
The setback marked the second-straight series loss for the Braves (8-18, 7-13 PBC) who put the wraps on their 2018-19 home schedule with the setback as well. The triumph marked the sixth win in the last seven outings for the Lakers (18-8, 14-6 PBC) who have also won two-straight matchups with UNCP in Pembroke.

HOW IT HAPPENED |
1ST QUARTER |
UNC Pembroke jumped out to an early 5-2 lead off of a Se'Dasia Love layup just two minutes into play, but Clayton State answered with 9-0 run to take an 11-5 with 5-1/2 minutes remaining in the period. Melanie Horne's trey from the corner cut the deficit for the Black & Gold to one possession, 11-8, just 30 seconds later but the Lakers toon a 17-11 advantage into the second quarter. |
2ND QUARTER |
Clayton State took advantage of cold shooting from UNCP and scored the first 13 points of the period to stretch their lead out to 30-11 with 4-1/2 minutes left before halftime. Se'Dasia Love broke the scoring drought for the hosts on a jumper at the 3:01 mark, and scored six of the next eight points for the Braves, but Clayton State held a 35-18 lead at intermission. |
3RD QUARTER |
Clayton State took its largest lead of the afternoon, 46-26, off of a made free throw from Shaquoria Miles with 2:30 remaining in the period, but the Black & Gold scored the last two baskets of the quarter to head into the final stanza trailing 46-30. |
4TH QUARTER |
UNCP scored the first six points of the quarter to whittle its deficit down to 10 points, 46-36, with just more than five minutes left to play, but that was as close as the Braves would get. The Lakers used a 9-3 scoring spurt to grab a 16-point advantage with 1:44 remaining, and then hit cruise control the rest of the way out. |

+ Senior Se'Dasia Love scored a team-high 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the field. Love also matched a career-high with four blocks.
+ Tee Graham tallied 10 points, while also adding three steals and three rebounds.

+ UNC Pembroke held the Lakers under 60 points for just the fifth time in 2018-19, and also held Clayton State to its second-lowest field goal shooting percentage of the season as well.
