PEMBROKE – Dominic Foy captured a first place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, as well as runner-up finishes in both the 110-meter Hurdles and Long Jump to help lead the UNC Pembroke track & field teams to a first place finish at the Braves Track & Field Classic on Saturday at the Dick & Lenore Taylor Track.
Foy was joined in the victory parade by
Bradley Thompson (High Jump),
Brandon Boyles (Shot Put),
Joshua Chepkesir (1,500-meter Run),
Jathan DeBerry (110-meter Hurdles),
Mat Maier (800-meter Run) and
Ean Ormsby (5,000-meter Run) who all collected first place finishes in their respective events.
On the women's side,
Erman Jepleting took top honors in both the 1,500-meter Run as well as the 5,000-meter Run.
Dy'Air McCormick (100-meter Dash),
Jacques Tucker (400-meter Hurdles),
Kelsi Sheldon (Shot Put)
Breze Ervin (Long Jump),
Crysten Jordan (High Jump) and
Alayna Richardson (Pole Vault) all stood atop the podium in their respective events as well.
The squads combined for an impressive 79 personal-best marks.
The Braves will get nearly two weeks off before returning to action on March 20 when they travel to Mount Olive for the Adidas Trojan Challenge. The two-day meet will take place at the Ray McDonald Sr. Track & Field Complex.
