PEMBROKE – No. 15 Lenoir-Rhyne used a sacrifice bunt and a single in the top of the ninth inning to secure a 6-5 extra inning victory in game one of the Sunday doubleheader with the UNC Pembroke softball team, before completing the series sweep with a two-out rally in the seventh inning of game two on Sunday afternoon at the UNCP Softball Field.
The setback for the Braves (2-2) marks just the second time the squad has dropped its home opener series in the last five seasons. The victory for the Bears (4-2) snaps a two-game losing skid and marks the third straight victory in Pembroke, N.C.
