PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke softball team combined for 18 hits and struck out 12 batters to help pick up a non-conference sweep over Methodist on Saturday afternoon at the UNCP Softball Field. UNCP claimed game one 9-0 in five innings, and completed the twinbill sweep with a 11-3 victory in six innings of game two. 
 
The sweep for the Braves (10-4) marks the sixth sweep of the season and marked the third shutout victory. The setback for the Monarchs (1-7) marked the fifth straight loss this season.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 1	Mary Sells singled to left field, advanced to third on a single to right field from Alex Watkins, and scored on single the outfield grass from Tatum Brummitt. Brummitt and Watkins each stole a base, and an ill-timed throwing error by the catcher scored Watkins. Madison Dyson drew a walk, before Emily Biddle knocked a two-run RBI single to left field to cap off the four run frame.
BOT 2	Rendi Wetherington (walk), Mary Sells (single) and Alex Watkins (walk) loaded the bases to start the inning. Tatum Brummitt crushed a long single to deep center field to score Wetherington and Sells. Jordan Adcox cleared the bases with a triple to the outfield cap to put the Braves on top 9-0.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 2	Tatum Brummitt drew a walk and scored on a triple to the outfield from Jordan Adcox. Emily Biddle drew a four-pitch walk followed by a single from Lauren Hilbourn to score Adcox. Kaci Roberson knocked a single up the middle to score Biddle to put UNCP up 3-0.
TOP 5	Caitlyn Holland beat out an infield single and advanced to second on a passed ball. Bethany Junker singled to left field followed by a double to right field from Heather Tsapp to score Holland. Taylor Bowen reached on a throwing error by the second baseman, which scored Junker as the Monarchs trailed 4-3.
BOT 5	Tatum Brummitt drew a walk, but Jordan Adcox sent one out of the park for a two-run homer. Emily Biddle singled to the shortstop, and advanced to second on a fielding error from the pitcher with a ball hit from Madison Dyson. Kaci Roberson singled to right field to give the Braves an insurance run, before Mary Sells smacked a single up the middle to cap off the five-run inning and put the Braves up 9-3.
