WINSTON-SALEM – Delsin Burkhart claimed the 800-meter Run title, while
Jaela Thomas finished in first place of the 200-meter Dash to highlight action for the UNC Pembroke track & field teams at the JDL Flat Is Fast Invitational on Sunday at the JDL Fast Track.
Burkhart bested the 26-man field with a time of 1:57.88, just 0.52 off of his personal best.
Preston Coker also logged an event title in the 200-meter Dash with a time of 22.65, while
Walker Mabe's 50.95 in the 400-meter Dash was good enough for a runner-up finish.
On the women's side, Thomas nearly registered a new personal best with a time of 26.04 in the 200-meter Dash on the way to a first-place finish.
Quanterra Harrison's time of 8.84 in the 60-meter Hurdles was just .26 off pace of event champion Akala Garrertt. Thomas and Harrison teamed up with
Azariah Stewart and
Reece Hicks in the 4x400 Relay for a second-place finish.
The Braves will be back in action on Friday when they trek to Lexington, Va., for the VMI Winter Relays. The two-day meet will be held at the Corps Physical Training Facility.
