GREENVILLE – Orlandus Gamble leaped to an NCAA provisional mark in the Long Jump, while
Jaela Thomas broke the 200-meter school record for the UNC Pembroke track & field teams on Saturday afternoon at the Bill Carson Invitational.
Gamble made his debut in the Long Jump in grand fashion establishing a personal-best mark of 7.27-meters for an event title while recording an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Jeffrey Gunter tallied personal-best times in both the 110-meter and 400-meter Hurdles for a third and runner-up finishes, respectively.
Caleb Baldwin finished third in the 200-meter Dash with a new personal-best, while
Cole Thomas also had a personal-best mark in Pole Vault to place sixth overall.
On the women's side, Thomas cruised to a third place finish in 200-meter Dash with a time of 24.75 to break an eight-year-old school record set by Jani Perez. Thomas also competed in the 100-meter Dash and placed fifth with a time of 12.34.
Quanterra Harrison captured a third place finish in the 100-meter Hurdles, while
Savannah Watkins set a new personal-best in Long Jump on the way to a fifth place finish.
The Black & Gold will be back in action on Friday when they compete at the Aggie Invitational. The two-day meet will take place at the Irwin Belk Complex.
