EDMOND, Okla. – An impressive 12-2 record in league play has turned heads towards the UNC Pembroke women's basketball team as the Braves checked in at No. 9 in the D2SIDA Southeast Region Media Poll that was released on Monday. 
 
UNCP is one of three Conference Carolinas teams included in the latest poll, with Belmont Abbey tied for second and Francis Marion holding down eighth place. Former Peach Belt Conference foes Georgia Southwestern (17-2) claimed top honors, while North Georgia (7) and USC Aiken (10) also earned spots on the distinguished list. Catawba (T2), Lenoir-Rhyne (4), Carson-Newman (5), and Wingate (6) rounded out the top-10. 
 
The announcement marks the first time this season that the Black & Gold have earned a spot in the regional rankings. The Braves are ranked 4^th nationally in field goal percentage defense, and are 12^th nationally in scoring defense. 
 
The Braves are set to be back in action on Wednesday when they welcome Southern Wesleyan to town for Social Media Night. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time by visiting UNCPBraves.com/Tickets.
