HICKORY – The 26th-ranked UNC Pembroke swimming team won 11 out of 14 events on Friday to highlight action at the Lenoir-Rhyne Tri-Meet against Milligan and Lenoir-Rhyne at the Shuford Pool. 

The Braves defeated Lenior-Rhyne 475.9-420.7, and slipped by Milligan 475.9-472.2.  

Britta Schwengle defeated the field in the 1000-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Backstroke, and 500-yard Freestyle during Friday's competition. Keltyn Rodriguez Matos also won a trio of individual events standing at the top of the podium in the 100-yard Breaststroke, 100-yard Freestyle, and the 200-yard Breaststroke. Schwengle and Rodriguez Matos both swam a leg on the 400-yard Medley Relay team that captured first place.

Newcomer Katie Raleigh placed first in the 100-yard Butterfly, while Fatima Portilo took top honors in the 200-yard Butterfly. Benedetta Pepe Pugliese finished first in the 200-yard Individual Medley. 

The Braves will be back in action on Dec. 17 when they travel to Miami, Fla., for the College National Open Water Championship at Biscayne Bay.
