Historic Season Ends For Women’s Basketball In NCAA Tournament

SALISBURY – The UNC Pembroke women's basketball team got off to a quick start scoring the first nine points of the contest, but top-seeded and nationally-ranked Catawba shot better than 41 percent from the field on the way to a 57-40 victory over the Braves on Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament at Goodman Gym.

The setback for the Braves (22-10) snapped a three-game winning streak and capped off the most historic season for the Black & Gold in program history. The Indians (26-5) will play the winner of Lenoir-Rhyne and Clayton State on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
