No. 1 North Greenville Finishes Off Sweep Of No. 13 Baseball

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Top-ranked North Greenville used a 1-hit shutout from all-American Reece Fields to fuel a 7-0 victory in the opening game, and then erased an early 2-0 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the fifth on the way to a 6-3 triumph in the late matchup, to complete a weekend sweep of the visiting and 13th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team on Saturday afternoon at Dillard Field.

It was the fourth and fifth road losses of the season for the Braves (23-8, 10-5 CC) who mustered just one hit in Saturday's opener, but rebounded by grabbing their first lead of the weekend in game two of Saturday's doubleheader. The Crusaders (29-2, 17-1) have now won 15-straight games, and improved to 17-0 at home this season with the results.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 3 John Michael Faile and David Lewis drew consecutive one-out walks to get something going for the Crusaders, and the hosts took the lead for good moments later on Jalen Vasquez's run-scoring double down the right field line. Carter Dierdorf's sac fly with the next at-bat doubled the lead.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
TOP 2 Trent Harris drew a one-out walk, moved into scoring position on a wild pitch and got within sniffing distance of home plate on a successful steal of third base. He eventually scampered home on a two-out wild pitch that gave the Braves a 2-0 advantage.
BOT 5 North Greenville used its first four at-bats to juice the bases, and knotted the game up at two apiece when David Lewis drew a 5-pitch walk to force in a run. Jalen Vasquez's run-scoring single, Carter Dierdorf's RBI groundout and a costly wild pitch completed the four-run frame for the hosts.
