Harris, No. 18 Baseball Rally Past Barton In Series Opener

WILSON – Redshirt junior Trent Harris hit a game-tying homer in the ninth inning and a go-ahead RBI single in the 10th,  and then closed out action on the mound to help lead the 18th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team to a 9-8 win over Barton in Friday's series opener at Nixon Field.

It was the seventh-straight win for the Braves (34-10, 17-7 CC) who have now captured 11 of their last 13 outings, including three of their last four road matchups. Barton (23-18, 15-10) has now dropped four of its last six contests, and has now lost consecutive home outings for the first time since early February.

Harris (6-2) allowed just two baserunners in two scoreless innings of relief to grab his sixth victory of the season from the hill. Newcomer David Warth also worked a scoreless eighth innings, but was not awarded a decision.
