PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke women's basketball team scored 20 points in the second quarter and shot a game-high 57.1 percent from the field in the fourth quarter on the way to a 61-46 victory against Erskine on Saturday at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.
The Braves (17-6, 11-2 CC) have now their last five games and improve to 11-1 when playing in Pembroke this season. The Flying Fleet (3-18, 1-13 CC) have lost their last nine contests and fall to 0-12 on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED |
1ST QUARTER |
Erskine used a quick start and capitalized on a three-pointer from Alexis Bruce and gave the Flying Fleet a 9-2 lead at the six-minute mark. Kelci Adams hit back-to-back triples to cut the UNC Pembroke deficit back to 9-8, but Erskine scored the next five points to lead 14-8 lead with four minutes left in the quarter. The Braves scored the final points of frame to trail 14-13 heading into the second period. |
2ND QUARTER |
UNCP put together a 14-0 run to take a 27-14 advantage following a fast break layup from Aniah McManus halfway through the quarter. The Black & Gold shot 40 percent from the floor and limited Erskine to 25-percent shooting as the Braves held a 33-21 lead as the teams headed into the locker rooms. |
3RD QUARTER |
The Flying Fleet opened the half on a 13-2 scoring run to trim their deficit back to 35-34 at the 4:35 mark. Anzya Cook knotted the score at 39 apiece with a triple from the top of the key, but a three from Kelci Adams and an old-fashioned three-point play ended the quarter with the hosts leading 45-39 heading into the final stanza. |
4TH QUARTER |
Kelci Adams knocked down a trio of free throws to push the UNC Pembroke lead out to 50-39 with 7:16 left in regulation. Erskine worked its deficit back to 51-44 with a running layup with five minutes left on the clock, but the hosts shot a game-best 57.1 percent from the floor and closed out the game on a 10-2 run. |

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE |
+ Kalaya Hall finished with a game-best 18 points highlighted on a 14-for-14 performance from the charity stripe. Hall pulled down six rebounds and had one block and one assist.
+ Kelci Adams turned in 15-point showing with three steals and five rebounds.
+ Aniah McManus added eight points on a 3-for-4 shooting performance. McManus also grabbed five rebounds. |

NOTABLES |
+ UNC Pembroke held an 18-8 advantage with points in the paint. The Braves also scored 24 points off of 16 Erskine turnovers.
+ The Black & Gold limited Erskine to 29.4-percent shooting. It was the second straight performance that the Flying Fleet have shot under 30 percent.
+ UNCP finished the night going 23-for-27 from the free throw line. EC got the free throw line just 11 times and made good on seven of those attempts. |
