No. 5 Baseball Drops Both Ends Of Twinbill At Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. – The 5th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team struck for four home runs as action got back underway Saturday afternoon after Friday's Game 1 was suspended due to fog, but Francis Marion answered each time with runs of their own to take a 10-6 win in the opener. In Game 2, Jake Bradley tied the game at 3 with a 2-run homer, but the Patriots walked it off in extras to clinch the series with a 4-3 win.
 
Francis Marion struck quickly in the opener after the resumption of play, putting up six runs in the bottom of the third, and then put up single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings of Game 2, before tacking on the game-winner in the eighth.
 
The results snapped an 11-game win streak to open the season for the Braves (11-2, 0-2 CC), who have now lost three straight to the Patriots (9-3, 2-0 CC) dating back to last season's Conference Carolinas Tournament.

The two squads will be back in action Sunday as they wrap up the series. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

BOT 3 Zack Summerville got the Patriots on the board first with a 2-run single. Noah Stout's sac fly would make it 3-0, before Owen Taylor's RBI single pushed the lead to 4-0. Caleb Oakley would add an RBI groundout, while Nick LaVigne made it 6-0 with an RBI single.
TOP 4 Isaias Villarreal led off with a single, and would score on Kody O'Connor's 2-run blast to cut into the deficit. Joey Rezek and Michael Dolberry II would each add solo blasts to make it a 6-4 deficit. 
TOP 6 Andrew Jenner got the inning started with a single, and would jog home on Jake Bradley's 2-run home run to cut the FMU lead to 8-6.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
TOP 6 O'Connor's second homer of the day cut the FMU lead to 3-1, before Bradley added his second blast of the day to score Joey Rezek and knot the score at 3.
BOT 8 Owen Taylor and Kollin Crepeau would each work a walk, before Hunter Looper walked it off with an RBI single to give FMU the 4-3 win.
