PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke softball team tallied five extra base hits and three home runs across two games to highlight action on the second day of the UNCP Softball Invitational. The Braves defeated Felician 7-0 with a complete game performance from Kinsley Sheppard to start the day, but fell 13-5 to Davis & Elkins after stranding 11 runners on base.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 2	Chloe Locklear got the inning started by reaching on a throwing error by the third baseman. Emma Eckhart reached after being hit by a pitch, but Chloe Hunsinger lit up the scoreboard with a three-run blast over the right field fence.
BOT 3	Marijo Wilkes ripped a double into the outfield gap and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. MaKenna Sibbett beat out an infield single to score Wilkes, as Sibbett scored on an Emma Eckhart single down the left field line.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
TOP 3	Sharon Morales started the inning by reaching after a fielding error and then stole second. Linzey Allard drew a walk as Morales advanced on a wild pitch to put runners on the corner. Anjolina Gutierrez doubled to center followed by a single up the middle from Ashlyn Zapach to plate a pair of runs.
BOT 1	Kaitlyn King drew a walk, stole second and then advanced to third after a ground out. MaKenna Sibbett scored King with a single through the right side.
TOP 2	Trinity Cossette beat out and infield single and scored on a double down the left field line from Alyssa Hayes. Sharon Morales knocked a single to left field to score Hayes, as Morales scored later in the inning to give the Senators a 5-1 lead.

The Braves will close out competition for the weekend on Sunday. UNCP will face Davis & Elkins at 3 p.m., followed by a 5:30 p.m. start time against West Virginia State. Admission is free to all home UNCP Softball games.
