Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader, Series Against Southern Wesleyan

PEMBROKE – Will Harris set the tone with a complete-game win in Game 1 of the twinbill, while the UNC Pembroke offense erupted for 20 runs on 19 hits in the series and regular season finale to sweep the series on Senior Day and secure the fourth seed in next week's Conference Carolinas Tournament in Gastonia.

Harris struck out eight and allowed a lone run in the 9-1 Game 1 victory, while Kody O'Connor and Chase Hudson combined for seven hits and 11 RBI in the 20-4 victory in Game 2.

Senior Luke Barrow provided the most impressive moment of the day, coming off the bench for his first career at bat and responding with a two-strike single up the middle.
 
UNCP (38-12, 19-11 CC) improved to 8-1 all-time against the Warriors (9-41, 7-23 CC), while scoring 20+ runs for the sixth time this season.

The Braves will be back in action Thursday, May 2, as they take on Emmanuel in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Sims Legion Park.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 3 Jake Bradley put the Braves on the board first with a solo blast to left center.
BOT 4 Joey Rezek reached on a leadoff single, Spencer Faulkner walked, and Andrew Jenner walked to load the bases. Will Hood followed with a 2-run single and would come around to score on a wild pitch. Blake Hinson and Rezek worked RBI walks, while Kody O'Connor added a 2-RBI single to make it 8-0 Braves.
BOT 5 Andrew Jenner made it 9-0 with a solo homer to right field.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 1 UNCP wasted no time jumping out to a lead as Michael Dolberry II singled, stole second, and came home on Rezek's RBI single. Chase Hudson added a 2-run single to make it 3-0.
BOT 4 Dolberry doubled to lead off the frame, and came around to score on O'Connor's RBI single. Hudson added another run with an RBI double, while Morgan Padgett stretched the lead to 9-1 with a 2-run double. Hood scored Padgett with an RBI single to make it 10-1.
BOT 8 The day's most electric moment happened when Luke Barrow stepped to the plate for his first career at bat and laced a 2-strike single back up the middle to a raucous ovation from the home crowd and dugout.
