CARY – Benedetta Pepe Pugliese and Britta Schwengle each recorded an NCAA B Standard time, while the UNC Pembroke swimming team took home a pair of individual titles to highlight the action on the third day of the Conference Carolinas Championship inside the Triangle Aquatic Center. 
 
The Braves took over first place after the third day of events with a total of 488.50 points, while Emmanuel is in second with 486.50 points. Montevallo remains in third place with 417.0 points.  
 
Schwengle captured the 200-yard Freestyle event with an NCAA B Standard time of 1:52.45. Ianna Gomez Veloz bested the field in the 100-yard Breaststroke to stand at the top of the podium after touching the wall in a time of 1:04.76. Pepe Pugliese finished runner-up in the 400-yard Individual Medley with an NCAA B Standard time of 4:28.18, while Fatima Portillo placed third in the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 57.12.
 
The Braves closed Friday's evening session second place finish in the 400-yard Medley Relay as Britta Schwengle, Ianna Gomez Veloz, Fatima Portillo, Naekeisha Louis touched in a time of 3:52.26. 
 
Saturday's final-day action inside the Triangle Aquatic Center will get underway at 10 a.m. with the preliminaries of the 200-yard Backstroke. Saturday's evening session will include the finals of the 200-yard Backstroke, the 100-yard Freestyle, the 200-yard Breaststroke, the 200-yard Butterfly and the 400-yard Freestyle Relay.
