Bullard Tosses No Hitter, Softball Splits With Barton

MAXTON - Summer Bullard threw a no hitter to highlight action on Saturday as the UNC Pembroke softball team split a Conference Carolinas doubleheader against Barton at Purnell Swett High School.
 
Bullard fanned seven batters through seven innings of work, while Tiara Stueck and Alona Hanna each drove in a run to give the Braves 2-0 victory to start the day. 
 
The Bulldogs tallied 11 hits and scored runs in five innings, including a four-run fifth inning to split the doubleheader with a 10-2 victory in six innings over UNCP.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 2 Chloe Locklear singled and moved to third on a pair of wild pitches. Alona Hanna smacked an RBI double to the outfield gap, followed by an RBI single from Tiara Stueck to give UNCP a 2-0 lead. 
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 1 UNC Pembroke put runners on the corners with singles from Alex Serbio and Kynley Brewer. Brewer stole second which scored Serbio, followed by an RBI double from Alona Hanna as the Braves held a 2-1 lead. 
TOP 5 Barton would load the bases on a pair of walks and a hit batter, but Makenzie Cyzick doubled to left field to score a pair of Bulldogs. Gracelyn Massey cleared the bases with a two-run double to give BC an 8-2 advantage.
