No. 24 Wrestling Too Much For Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE – No. 24 UNC Pembroke won the first seven bouts of the dual, including five straight pins, to win 34-12 and pick up another Conference Carolinas dual win Thursday night inside Kornegay Arena.

The Braves (13-4, 6-2 CC) moved to 6-0 all-time against the Trojans (5-6, 4-3 CC), including 4-0 in matchups at Mount Olive.

The Black & Gold will be back in action January 17 as they host the 2nd Annual Braves Open. Wrestling action is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.

#24 UNCP AT MOUNT OLIVE (W, 34-12)

Cooper Davis started the UNCP seven-match winning streak with a decision win at 125 pounds. Fifth-ranked Logan Robinson followed with another decision win in the 133-pound bout to give the Braves a 6-0 lead. Don Edwards (141 pounds), Avery Buonocore (149), 12th-ranked Keegan Roberson (157), 12th-ranked Caleb Grau (165), and Logan Hoffman (174) each rattled off pins to stretch the lead to 36-0. Mount Olive would win the final three bouts, but the Black & Gold brought home the 34-12 win.

(UNCP was assessed two one-point penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct.)
