1000-yard Freestyle 2026 Conference Championship

Swimming In 1st After Opening Day Of Conference Championship

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Britta Schwengle recorded NCAA provisional times and broke the Conference Carolinas meet record in the 1000-yard Freestyle to help position the UNC Pembroke in first place after the opening day of the Conference Carolinas Championship on Wednesday. 

The Braves tallied 125 points after three events, with Montevallo in second with 101 and Converse rounding out the top-3 in third with 76 points. 

Schwengle took top honors in the 1000-yard Freestyle event with a time of 10:19.32, while Sofia Pereira logged a third place finish with a time of 10:27.11. 

The 800-yard Freestyle Relay team of Britta Schwengle, Sofia Pereira, Fabiana Pesce, Fatima Portillo beat out the competition to win the event, while the 200-yard Medley Relay team of Katie Raleigh, Kaeleigh Cupples, Noelie Lacour, Kennice Greene earned a spot on the podium placing third. 

The top three finishes in each event are first, second, and third team all-conference. 


The Braves will be back in action on Thursday with the prelims beginning at 10 a.m. inside the Kingsport Aquatics Center.
